Freeman Receiving CASE Missouri Professor of the Year Award
Terrance Freeman, PhD.
As St. Philip's Council President, Dr. Terrance Freeman is committed to fostering inclusion within our church. Freeman has a deep appreciation for the history of St. Philip's and the Ville, and is an active member of the St. Louis community. In addition to serving our church, he manages many roles, which include scholar, author, professor, father, and advocate.
Freeman graduated with honors from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a Research Engineer for Western Electric and Ralston Purina Co. and as Senior Project Engineer for Mallinckrodt, Inc. Freeman went on to complete his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with concentration in Higher Education Administration at the University of Missouri at St. Louis. Since entering the field of education, he has served in a variety of positions at St. Louis Community College, such as Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Coordinator of the Minority Engineering Transfer Program, Engineering Science Coordinator, and Advisor to the President on Multicultural Affairs. Freeman has received recognition for his work in education, winning numerous awards. This year, he was named as a finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring.

Freeman's commitment to inclusive worship is supported by his 25 years of local and national experience as a facilitator/trainer in diversity with A World of Difference Institute and the National Conference for Community and Justice. He is passionate about empowering African-American youth, and has volunteered for many non-profit organizations like 100 Black Men of America and INROADS.
